Solana ETF Hits $1B as Bitcoin, Ethereum Funds Gain Capital

Institutional crypto ETF demand is spreading beyond Bitcoin. Fresh capital returned to Bitcoin funds Monday, Ethereum extended an 11-day inflow streak, and Solana’s flagship staking ETF crossed $1 billion in assets — even as Bitcoin itself trades below $80,000. Together, the three trends point to a broadening base of regulated demand rather than flows tied to a single asset.

Bitcoin ETFs Rebound With $217M Inflow

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in about $217 million on Aug. 31, reversing a roughly $202 million outflow the prior session, according to Farside Investors and SoSoValue data. BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for approximately $205.9 million of Monday’s total, effectively the entire rebound. Friday’s withdrawal had ended a nine-session inflow streak that pulled in more than $3 billion — one of Bitcoin’s strongest institutional buying runs of 2026 — after which total Bitcoin ETF assets briefly topped $100 billion before slipping back near $97.6 billion.

Solana’s BSOL Crosses $1 Billion

Solana is emerging as the clearest sign that ETF demand is expanding into assets beyond the two largest cryptocurrencies. The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) crossed $1 billion in assets under management on Aug. 28, just 10 months after launch — the first U.S. Solana ETF to hit that threshold. Farside data show U.S. Solana ETFs had generated roughly $1.30 billion in cumulative net flows through Aug. 28, with BSOL alone responsible for more than $1 billion of that total while Fidelity, Grayscale, and other issuers picked up smaller allocations.

The milestone stands out because it arrived while SOL traded far below its January 2025 all-time high:

  • SOL price: Near $102 Tuesday, down slightly over 24 hours and roughly 65% below its record high.
  • Ethereum inflows: About $88 million Monday, extending an 11-session streak worth roughly $1.6 billion — Ethereum’s longest positive run since a 20-day streak ended in July 2025.

That combination — rising institutional allocations without a matching Solana price breakout — suggests the demand isn’t simply chasing momentum.

Bitcoin Holds Below $80,000 Despite ETF Buying

The broader ETF strength is unfolding against a choppier price backdrop. Bitcoin traded between $78,000 and $79,000 Tuesday, still below the $80,000 mark it briefly cleared in August, as rising Treasury yields and expectations for a Federal Reserve rate increase weigh on risk assets generally. That makes Monday’s rebound and the parallel altcoin ETF strength more notable — capital is returning even without a clear price catalyst pulling it in.

Conclusion

Bitcoin remains the dominant crypto ETF product by scale, but Ethereum’s 11-day streak and Solana’s billion-dollar BSOL milestone show regulated investment demand is no longer concentrated in BTC alone. If those flows continue while prices stay range-bound, September will offer a clearer test of whether ETF capital has become a structural source of demand across digital assets — or whether it was simply riding Bitcoin’s earlier rally.
