XRP’s Enterprise Vision Gains New Support

The debate surrounding XRP and Ripple has taken a notable turn as the cryptocurrency industry increasingly embraces the institutional approach it once criticized.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently signaled agreement with growing claims that competing blockchain projects are now pursuing the same enterprise-focused strategy that made XRP a target of criticism for years.

The discussion gained momentum after Flare co-founder Hugo Philion appeared on the AllInCrypto Podcast and highlighted what he described as a dramatic shift in industry attitudes.

According to Philion, blockchain projects that once dismissed Ripple’s efforts to work closely with banks and financial institutions are now actively seeking similar partnerships as institutional capital becomes a dominant force in digital assets.

For much of XRP’s history, critics labeled it a “banker coin,” arguing that Ripple’s emphasis on compliance, regulation, and financial institutions conflicted with the decentralized ideals that shaped the early cryptocurrency movement.

Yet the market environment of 2026 looks significantly different from the one that fueled those criticisms.

Institutions Drive Crypto Growth

As governments establish clearer digital asset regulations, major financial institutions are entering the cryptocurrency market at a faster pace. This trend has increased demand for blockchain networks capable of meeting compliance requirements while supporting large-scale financial transactions.

Philion argued that the market’s current direction validates Ripple’s long-term vision. Projects that once prioritized decentralization above all else are increasingly introducing features aimed at attracting banks, asset managers, and enterprise users.

Several factors are driving this transition:

  • Growing regulatory oversight across global markets
  • Increased institutional investment in digital assets
  • Rising demand for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs)
  • Greater focus on compliance and security standards

These developments have shifted attention toward blockchain networks that can operate within existing financial frameworks while maintaining the efficiency advantages of distributed ledger technology.

XRP Ledger Expands Beyond Payments

Ripple’s influence now extends beyond cross-border payments, the sector where the company initially established its reputation. The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has emerged as a growing platform for real-world asset tokenization, a market expected to attract substantial institutional investment over the coming years.

Tokenized assets can include bonds, real estate, commodities, and other traditional financial instruments represented on a blockchain. This rapidly expanding segment is becoming one of the most closely watched areas within the digital asset industry.

As demand for institutional-grade infrastructure increases, developers are introducing new technologies to strengthen the XRPL ecosystem.

Flare 2.0 Targets RWA Adoption

One of the most significant developments is the upcoming launch of Flare 2.0. The upgrade introduces Flare Confidential Compute, a privacy-focused data layer designed to support institutional participation in decentralized finance.

The technology utilizes Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), secure hardware systems that protect sensitive information while processing transactions. Similar technology is already used in consumer devices for advanced security functions.

Key benefits expected from Flare 2.0 include:

  • Enhanced privacy for institutional transactions
  • Improved scalability for large trading volumes
  • Compliance-friendly infrastructure
  • Support for decentralized exchanges handling RWAs

The broader crypto industry appears to be moving toward the model Ripple championed from the beginning. As institutional adoption accelerates and tokenized assets gain traction, XRP’s long-debated enterprise strategy is increasingly viewed not as an exception, but as a blueprint for the next phase of blockchain growth.
