BNB Chain Passes 80M Stablecoin Holders, Overtakes Tron’s Lead

BNB Chain has overtaken Tron to become the largest blockchain network by stablecoin holders, according to Token Terminal data, with 79.3 million stablecoin-holding addresses versus Tron’s 76.1 million. The shift caps a roughly 54.5% surge in BNB Chain’s stablecoin user base since late 2024, when the network counted approximately 42 million holders. The milestone lands even as BNB’s own price trades well below June highs, testing key resistance near $602.

BNB Chain Closes the Gap With Tron

BNB Chain’s climb to the top spot reflects a sustained divergence in growth rates between the two networks. While Tron’s stablecoin user base continued expanding over the same period, its pace slowed considerably compared to BNB Chain’s, allowing what had been a significant gap to close entirely by mid-2026. Separate data from VanEck corroborates the broader trend: as of June 2026, BNB Chain recorded roughly 34 million monthly active users, up 72% year-over-year, moving approximately $127 billion in peer-to-peer stablecoin volume that month alone at a median transaction fee under half a cent. BNB Chain’s total stablecoin supply stood at around $17.2 billion as of that reporting, up 64% year-over-year, still trailing Ethereum’s roughly $180 billion and Tron’s approximately $85 billion in stablecoin market capitalization, underscoring that BNB Chain’s lead is in holder count and transaction volume rather than total dollar value held.

Stablecoin holder growth is widely regarded as a meaningful proxy for genuine wallet adoption, since it reflects users actually holding balances rather than one-off trading activity. Beyond the top two networks, Ethereum ranks third with approximately 26 million stablecoin holders, followed by Celo at 24.5 million and Polygon at 21.7 million. Base, Solana, and Arbitrum continue posting steady gains through 2026 but remain well behind the leaders.

Growing Holder Base Could Boost Ecosystem Activity

A larger stablecoin holder base typically strengthens the broader ecosystem built on top of it, including decentralized applications and on-chain liquidity. BNB Chain’s established DeFi infrastructure, including protocols like PancakeSwap and Venus, stands to benefit as stablecoin liquidity becomes more evenly distributed across the network. The chain’s low transaction costs, sub-three-second settlement times, and its position within the Binance ecosystem have been consistently cited as key drivers behind its user growth.

BNB Price Tests Key Resistance Near $602

Despite the network-level milestone, BNB’s price has not moved in lockstep with holder growth. The token currently trades around $586, having gradually recovered from a correction in June. Technically, the chart has improved relative to earlier in the summer, with BNB reclaiming both its 20-day and 50-day moving averages.

BNB is now testing its 100-day moving average near $602, the first significant resistance standing between current levels and a broader recovery. Momentum has also ticked higher, with the Relative Strength Index climbing above 53, indicating buyers have regained some control without pushing the market into overbought territory. Trading volume remains comparatively light, suggesting investors are waiting for stronger confirmation before committing to larger positions. A decisive break above the 100-day moving average would likely put the 200-day moving average, near $647, in play as the next technical target.

Conclusion

BNB Chain’s rise past Tron in stablecoin holders marks a genuine shift in how users are distributing their digital dollar activity, driven by low fees, fast settlement, and deep integration with the Binance ecosystem. But the network milestone and BNB’s price action remain two separate stories for now: fundamentals on the network side are strengthening, while the token itself is still working through technical resistance built up since June. Whether BNB’s price eventually reflects this underlying adoption growth will likely depend on whether the token can clear $602 and sustain momentum toward its next target near $647.
